Carlsbad Christmas Tree Disposal

As the holiday season comes to an end, Waste Management of North County is helping Carlsbad residents easily recycle their Christmas trees. The company is offering curbside pick-up.

Waste Management reminded residents to remove all decorations, including tinsel, lights, ornaments and tree stands. When possible, residents should cut down the tree so that it fits inside the green waste container. Trees taller than 6 feet must be cut in half and placed next to the green waste container.

Flocked trees cannot be recycled and must be disposed of through regular trash service, according to Waste Management. Flocked trees should fit into the trash cart, with the lid closed for collection.

The curbside tree collection program began Dec. 26 and runs through Jan. 11. Residents can also drop off their trees at the following locations in Carlsbad:

  • Calaveras Park: 2997 Glasgow Drive
  • Stagecoach Park: 3420 Camino de los Coches
  • Fire Station 2: 1275 Carlsbad Village Drive
  • Poinsettia Park 6600 Hidden Valley Road
  • Waste Management 5960 El Camino Real
